Tanning ledges, waterfalls, scuppers, bubblers, LED laminars and lighting turn a pool into the place everyone gathers. We design and build them into new pools across Rock Hill, Fort Mill and the Charlotte area.

Why Features Matter
Where a Pool Becomes Yours.
Pool water features in Rock Hill, SC do more than decorate. The sound of a waterfall softens street noise, a shallow ledge gives children and sunbathers a place of their own, and light moving across the water makes the yard worth sitting in long after dark. Two pools of the same size can feel completely different depending on what is built into them.
The best features are planned with the pool, not added later. Each one needs plumbing, a pump, power or a structural detail in a specific place, and getting those right at the design stage is what keeps the finished pool clean in its lines and simple to run. We lay out every feature on the plan before excavation, so the equipment is sized for it and the controls are where you want them.
We also help you choose with restraint. A single, well placed feature often does more than several competing ones, and we will tell you honestly which additions suit your yard and which ones would crowd it.

Tanning Ledges
The Most Used Part of the Pool.
A pool tanning ledge is a wide, shallow shelf, usually a few inches deep, built at the edge of the pool. It is where lounge chairs sit half in the water, where small children splash safely within reach and where adults spend long afternoons without ever really swimming. Many homeowners find it becomes the most used part of the pool.
We build ledges in fiberglass, vinyl liner and shotcrete pools, sized and placed to suit the yard, the sun and the way you entertain. An raised tanning ledge with a bubbler takes the idea further: a raised shelf with a gentle column of water rising through it, adding sound and movement right where people sit.
Placement is the key decision. A ledge facing the afternoon sun near the steps will see constant use, while one tucked into a corner may not. We work that out with you on site, along with the depth and size that match how many chairs and people you want it to hold.
Water and Light
Sound, Movement and Glow.
Pool waterfalls range from a simple sheet of water to a three tier waterfall that steps down into the pool. Scuppers pour water from a raised wall or column, often in sets, and suit modern and formal designs. Bubblers send a soft column of water up through a ledge or step, and LED laminar jets shoot a smooth, glass like arc of lit water across the surface, which is especially striking at night.
Pool lighting ties these features together. LED lights in the pool walls, steps and features let you set the color and mood for an evening swim or a gathering on the deck, and they make the pool safer to use after dark. We plan the number and placement of lights with the design, and the conduit and controls are installed during the build.
For homeowners who entertain, pool bar stools set into the water at a swim up ledge give guests somewhere to sit without leaving the pool. Along with practical additions such as handrails, ladders, automatic covers and cleaning systems, these are the details we help you choose to make the pool easier and more enjoyable to own.

Questions
Before You Start.
What is a tanning ledge in a pool?
A tanning ledge is a wide, shallow shelf built at the edge of the pool, usually just a few inches deep. It holds lounge chairs partly in the water, gives young children a safe place to splash and offers adults a spot to relax without swimming. It can be built into fiberglass, vinyl liner and shotcrete pools, sized and placed to suit your yard.
Can water features be added to an existing pool?
Some can, depending on the pool and what the feature needs. Features that rely on new plumbing, structure or power are far simpler to build during the original construction, which is why we plan them into new pools from the start. If you have an existing pool, we can look at it and tell you honestly which additions are practical.
Do water features add to running costs?
Most features need a pump or a share of the pool's circulation, and lighting draws a little power, so there is some running cost. Planning features at the design stage lets us size the equipment correctly and set up controls so you can run each feature when you want it, rather than all the time. We explain what each addition involves before you choose it.
What is an LED laminar?
An LED laminar is a water jet that shoots a smooth, clear arc of water from the deck into the pool, lit from within so it glows in color at night. Laminars are often installed in pairs or sets along the edge of the pool. They add movement and light without needing a raised wall, which makes them a good fit for modern designs.
Compare
Other Ways to Build.
Features start with the pool they belong to. Compare our pool types to see which one suits the details you want. Our custom pools overview explains how we approach every project.

A fiberglass pool is the fastest way to a finished inground pool, because the shell arrives ready and goes in once the ground is dug.

A vinyl liner pool is the most budget flexible way to a full size, custom shaped inground pool.

A shotcrete pool is formed by hand on your property, so its shape, depth and features answer to your yard and nothing else.

A spa adds year round warmth to a backyard, whether it spills into a new pool, stands alone or arrives as a hot tub. We design and install all three around Rock Hill and Charlotte.

The deck and coping frame the pool and carry every footstep around it, so we design and build them as part of the project.
